SJICF Youth Philanthropy Education Fund

The Foundation’s Youth Philanthropy program provides in-classroom teaching about the role, benefits and personal satisfaction derived from personal giving.  The Fund provides an opportunity for local students to evaluate, select and grant money to a public cause of their own choosing.

Performed in close partnership with our local teachers, the program includes lead-up classroom learning, a short talk by a Foundation board member and an allocation of funds to a class for them to give to a local charitable organization.  Students are instructed how to find and evaluate, as a group, the local non-profit organizations that currently need help and to form a class consensus on which one will receive their grant.  Grants range from $100 at the elementary school level to $1000 at the high school level.

This highly acclaimed program has been in place for 5 years and has opened new ways of thinking to many of our local children.

Your gift will help local students experience first-hand the power and joy of giving.
