Pamela Gross

Pamela traveled around the world on a 31’ sailboat for 10 years before settling in Friday Harbor in 1997. Highlights of her travels to isolated places – including the Galapagos Islands, Papua New Guinea and southern Japan – sharpened her interest in the natural world and preservation. For nine years, she worked for the County Land Bank as the key administrative staff.

Pamela stepped up her volunteer work and commitment to the community when she left the Land Bank, building on a long tradition of voluntarism. In the beginning she spent many weekends at convalescent centers as a child, planting trees in the community as a teenager; and co-teaching English as a Second Language to refugee women, while living and working in New Zealand in the early 1990’s. She joined the SJICF Board in May 2008. Pamela has been actively involved in the leadership and design of the new PeaceHealth Peace Island Medical Center.
